Tommy ML

Tommy ML strives to change the world with art. Tommy ML was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1972. At an early age he began to read Marvel comic books and admire the artistry of Stan Lee. He also acquired a love of science and nature, which gave him many avenues of expression. He began painting in his youth, but didn’t continue on with it until he was in his twenties. With his unique artistry, he uses cardboard to explore the affects of a different surface. As a matter of fact, his first piece was of a girl he couldn’t get. His inspirations are comic book artist Sal Bucini, Dali and Bescoight.

What made you decide to do the LeBron series?
I feel LeBron is the star of a new generation. He represents the coming of a new era.
How would you describe your style?
I feel that art has no limitations. There are countless figures and abstractions that can be created.
You incorporate words into many of your pieces. What is their meaning or purpose? Words are like the symbols of mankind. The use of symbols is as ancient as art itself .

Tommy has done several local shows including the Greater Cleveland Art & Gallery Festival (GCAGF), Case Western Reserve, and currently has works on display at Artist Review Today Showcase in the Galleria.
He lives and works out of his home studio in Cleveland Heights. He uses acrylics, oils, or any medium available.
“I try to give my work a sense of movement. Each piece is meant to inspire people to think of things they would normally ignore. If I am going to paint a piece, it must have something to reveal.”
